Wednesday Overview: Unsettled, then cold again
Freeze Warnings have been issued on two consecutive nights, both Monday and Tuesday, as temperatures fell into the upper 20’s and lower 30’s throughout the area. A warming trend is underway today, with high temperatures rising into the mid to upper 40’s during the afternoon hours. The news isn’t all good, however, as this warming trend is the first sign of unsettled weather which will approach the area on Thursday.
This storm system will bring periods of rain with embedded thunderstorms to the area on Thursday, before cold air follows the storm system into the weekend. The latest and greatest information is all included below:
- Cold air is again in place to start the day. Temperatures in the 30’s and a light breeze are keeping the air feeling quite cool. Things will warm up later today, with highs in the 40’s expected. It’ll feel a good bit warmer than yesterday.
- Clouds increase late tonight with showers in the late evening. Drizzle and damp conditions are expected overnight into Thursday morning.
- Periods of rain, occasionally heavy, are expected on Thursday. There may even be some embedded thunderstorms with heavier rain and gusty winds. This is likely to impact the Yankee game which is scheduled for 4:05pm. While you’re here, check out our brand new SportsCast which debuted yesterday.
- Colder air will return again this weekend, as an arctic airmass again moves overhead. Temperatures will return to notably below normal through the early part of next week.
