Weekly Outlook: Heat continues, storms Tuesday

While the ridiculous, oppressive heat of this weekend is in the past, above normal temperatures and heat will continue during the upcoming week. Heat Index values will again approach the middle to upper 90’s throughout the area on Monday and Tuesday afternoon. A low pressure system moving north of the area is likely to create some more unsettled weather on Tuesday, with the potential for strong and severe thunderstorms in parts of the area.

After the passage of the associated frontal boundary early on Wednesday, hot but pleasant weather is expected to persist for the remainder of the week. Dew points during the middle to latter half of the week will be much lower than what we have been experiencing, which will make the air feel more comfortable despite the continued warm surface temperatures. Here are some highlights for the week ahead:

  • Warm weather will continue on Monday, with temperatures in the lower 90’s and heat index values in the middle to upper 90’s.
  • Strong and severe thunderstorms are a possibility on Tuesday with a low pressure system passing north of the area.
  • Warm, but pleasant weather is then expected for the second half of the work week — with lower dew points but warm temperatures and plenty of sun.
