NYC Area Forecast: Another Rainy Friday

Briefing: Rain expected this morning, with periods of heavy rain through the early afternoon. Localized flooding possible.

If you’re thinking it has rained on Friday a lot recently, you are thinking correctly. It has rained on the past three Fridays, actually, and we’re gunning for four today. A low pressure system moving into the Great Lakes is bringing warm and and plenty of moisture with it, and the result will periods of showers throughout the morning today. These are expected to continue for the majority of the morning hours.

More Tranquil Weather Today, Showers & T-Storms Return By Friday

Happy Wednesday, everyone! High pressure and upper-level ridging from the Great Lakes/Ohio Valley gradually builds into Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions over the next couple days. This will allow for some more pleasant, warm and dry to continue today and much of Thursday. Then more unsettled weather will be returning with an increasing chance of showers and thunderstorms over the Northeast during Thursday night and Friday, as a frontal system moves through. 5/3 AM Zones Update: Chilly and Breezy on Wednesday; Heavy Rain on Friday

Good morning, everyone! We had a beautiful day on Tuesday with mostly sunny skies and highs in the 70s, though it got pretty windy in the afternoon. Unfortunately, we will not be seeing 70s again anytime soon as a large blocking pattern has developed near Greenland, which will generally help for deep troughs to form in the means in the Northeast. Temperatures were pretty mild during most of the overnight ahead of a second cold front that will be pushing through the region this morning. Considering we just had a cold front that came through on Monday night that dried us out, and the fact that this second cold front is all northern-stream driven and thus has little moisture return will mean that this cold front will be a dry frontal passage.

AM Zones Update: More Unsettled Weather, Much Warmer Friday & Saturday

Weather conditions will gradually improve over the next couple of days, as a cut-off low decays and then moves away from the region. But some unsettled weather with possibly some isolated showers or thunderstorms around, will likely continue into this weekend. Much warmer than normal temperatures are still expected for Friday and Saturday. But some cooler weather is likely behind a backdoor cold front for Sunday.
