NYC Area Forecast: Heavy rain this evening, better weekend ahead

Showers and thunderstorms will become increasingly prevalent throughout the area this afternoon, culminating in a threat of heavy rain throughout the area tonight. This will lead to localized flooding, and torrential rain may continue until the late evening or even midnight in many areas. The rain wraps up gradually later this evening with improving conditions expected on Saturday.

Heavy Rain & T-Storms Late Tonight into Wednesday, Warmer Times Ahead?

We have had some very nice weather, since the weekend in the Northeast. Plenty of sunshine with temperatures a little cool but overall closer to seasonal levels. But some very wet weather is on the way for tonight and tomorrow, before weather pattern begins improving again for the rest of this week and into the upcoming weekend. Then finally, a warming trend with some more summer-like temperatures will be occurring next week and as move into first few days of May.
Backing up to today, sunshine this morning will give way more cloudiness this afternoon, as a cut-off low over the Tennessee Valley this morning begins moving slowly northeast. Onshore easterly winds and cloud cover, ahead of this system will keep high temperatures a little cooler today—in the middle to upper 50s near the coast. But further inland temperatures will likely get into the 60s again this afternoon. Then rain will overspread the region from southwest to northeast tonight, as the cut-low begins interacting with shortwave energy coming out the Great Lakes and moves closer to region. Temperatures will likely remain warmer in the upper 40s to middle 50s with more onshore winds and cloud cover.

Good morning! We come bearing good news. Temperatures will begin moderating closer to seasonable levels over the next couple of days, which will lead us to very warm temperatures on Friday and Saturday. High temperatures may approach 80 degrees in many areas for the first time this year! By Sunday, however, much cooler air is likely to return, as a backdoor cold front moves to the south from New England. Another large storm system threatens to bring the region heavy rainfall by Sunday night and Monday.

Sunday Briefing: More Rain Today, Then Progressive Pattern for the Northeast

Happy Sunday! A frontal boundary remains stalled over the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. Waves of low pressure will continue to run, along this front today, with more periods of rain, that may be moderate to heavy at times, this afternoon and early this evening. Temperatures will remain mild in the upper 40s to middle 50s throughout the region, with a southwest flow. Some spots could reach the upper 50s to lower 60s, especially over Southern NJ and Southeast PA. Some areas of patchy fog with reduced visibilites will also be around in some areas, especially when rain intensity decreases.
