5.23 Midday Zones Update: Close Call with Rain Tonight & Wednesday AM, More Rain Likely Thursday

Good afternoon! Plenty of high clouds will continue to be around for rest of this afternoon. But sunshine will filter or break through these clouds and temperatures rise into the lower to middle 70s, over the much of region this afternoon. These clouds are from a broad area of low pressure developing along tale end of frontal boundary over the Southeast US. This low will organize and consolidate over the Carolinas this evening, as it will be more sandwiched in between upper-level jet streaks. This will cause clouds will thicken more this evening. But weak high pressure should keep most of the region dry, during the evening hours.

5.16 Midday Zones Update: Low 90s Possible by Thursday, More High Latitude Blocking

Happy Tuesday! Get ready for more summery weather over next several days! For today, sunshine will continue into the early afternoon hours. Then more mid-high clouds may filter sunshine this afternoon, as some convective debris from the Great Lakes moves southeast into region. But there should be enough sunshine with west-southwest winds to help temperatures rise into upper 70s and 80 over most of the region. Clear to partly cloudy skies are expected tonight. Low temperatures overnight will be in the upper 50s to lower 60s, over most of region with a light southwest flow.

AM All Zones Update: Significant Snowfall Expected Late Tonight into Thursday

A warm front will likely make little progress northward this morning, before a cold front moves through during the midday hours today. Drier northwest winds behind this front, will cause low clouds and fog to clear for more sunshine later this morning and afternoon. Temperatures will still rise into the 50s and some even lower 60s this afternoon, with a downslope flow. Then a colder airmass will begin moving into the region tonight.
