A winter storm will impact NYC on Tuesday, bringing the potential for mixed precipitation and accumulating snowfall. There is still a great deal of uncertainty regarding exactly how the storm will play out, resulting in a low confidence forecast overall.

Very insignificant winter storm expected Sunday Night

You probably aren’t going to remember this one.

A weak disturbance slides into the Northeast United States on Sunday, and will bring light and intermittent precipitation with it. Forecast model guidance is in good agreement that the system will strengthen modestly as it moves through the Mid Atlantic states, eventually redeveloping off the coast and into the Atlantic Ocean.

Precipitation is expected to develop through the Ohio Valley and then toward the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. The suggestion on almost all forecast guidance is that it will be rather intermittent and unimpressive. A snow and sleet mix will shift northward through Pennsylvania, while light rain will move into Washington, DC and toward Southern and Central New Jersey.

Storms and gusty winds today, more snow ahead?

I suppose that sometimes you have to throw your hands up and say “fine”. That’s exactly what we’ll be doing this week as we track another potential winter weather event. But lets get to the weather at hand first – it’s stormy, dreary, windy and mild. Showers this morning will give way to cloudy and drizzly conditions during the late morning and early afternoon as a warm front moves northward. Southerly winds will pick up as the warm front moves towards the NYC Area near noontime.

A Spring Snowstorm in the Northeast? It’s not out of the question

On the morning of March 22nd, many people in the NYC area were digging out from over a foot of snow. Even as the last flakes floated down from the sky, the familiar Spring sound could be heard: Drip. Drip. Drip. The snow was quickly melting, and after a series of four Nor’Easters had impacted the area in March, most of us were thinking that winter was finally over.

We have some bad news.

A good look at the upcoming pattern in April tells us that it is not over and in fact, there is a good chance that we will be tracking snow threats in the first ten days of April.
