The last weekend of meteorological summer is here, and the weather will cooperate for a proper sendoff. High pressure will build in to New England today, with lower dew points and lots of sunshine expected. The pleasant weather will continue through Saturday and Sunday.
The National Hurricane Center has confirmed that Dorian strengthened to a Category 1 Hurricane this afternoon. Maximum sustained winds are now near 75mph as the storm passes near St Thomas.
Tropical Storm Erin formed off the East Coast late on Tuesday evening. The storm is expected to track northeastward, posing no threat to land. It is expected to bring some rough surf and swells along parts of the Northeast US coast through the end of the week.
Tropical Storm Dorian will approach Puerto Rico in the next 24 hours, likely making landfall, before continuing toward the Bahamas and eventually Florida later this week.
