Weekly Planner: Mostly pleasant, warm weather expected

Happy Monday! After a slow start to the morning, the weather will improve this afternoon. Better yet, high pressure will build in during the middle of the week. The result will be warm, calm weather (finally!). Unsettled weather may return by later in the week and during the weekend. Here are five things to look out for this week and through July in NYC:

Monday Briefing | Five Things

  1. Damp weather this morning will give way to clearing skies and improving conditions this afternoon. Temperatures will rebound into the upper 70’s. The best news of all? Dew points will have dropped significantly, meaning less humidity and a much more pleasant feel to the air.
  2. High pressure builds in from Tuesday into the middle of the week. This will lead to calm and warm conditions. It’s going to be a pleasant few days – hopefully not everyone is spending it in the office.
  3. Unsettled weather returns on Thursday afternoon. A frontal system will move into New England and bring increasing chances of showers and storms. While widespread severe weather isn’t anticipated, a few of these storms could contain heavy rain and some gusty winds.
  4. The weekend looks serviceable, but a few showers and storms are possible each afternoon. The best chance may come from later Sunday into Monday as another frontal system approaches.
  5. It appears increasingly likely that heat will build toward the area next week. A large ridge is expected to form in the Central USA and then drift eastward, allowing some of the warmest air of the year to move toward the region.

We’ll have a more detailed update coming your way later today with a technical breakdown of all of the goodies within the weather forecast. Enjoy the rest of your Monday afternoon!
