Heavy rain Thursday morning, very warm Friday

The roller coaster weather pattern will cue have become accustomed to will continue over the next few days. Wednesday will start off inauspiciously enough, with high temperatures in the mid 50’s and plenty of sunshine. Clouds will increase late in the day, however, as a disturbance approaches. Here’s how the next few days will shake down:

Wednesday and Thursday

Quiet weather on Wednesday will give way to clouds and showers by evening. A warm front will approach by late evening, with a disturbance developing along it overnight. Early Thursday morning, periods of heavy rain are likely. There may even be a few rumbles of thunder.

Localized flooding can be expected from this heavy rainfall, which will taper by the mid-morning hours on Thursday. Clearing will occur by the afternoon hours, with warmer and more pleasant weather conditions. Another disturbance will begin approaching the area from the west by later Thursday Night.

Friday

Showers can be expected on Friday morning as a warm front moves north of the area. By the afternoon hours, however, some breaks in cloud cover are likely. Temperatures will rapidly warm into the lower to middle 70’s, which is extremely anomalous for this time of year. This warmth will persist into the early evening.

During the evening hours, a front will approach the area from the west – likely bringing showers and some embedded thunderstorms with it. We expect the thunderstorms to weaken as they approach NJ and NYC, but some lightning and rumbles of thunder are still possible.

Saturday and Sunday

Blustery and much cooler weather is likely on Saturday and Sunday in the wake of a departing storm system. The cold front that crosses the area late Friday will bring a change in wind direction and usher in a much colder airmass. Highs on Saturday and Sunday will reach only into the 40’s, with overnight lows in the 20’s away from the coast and city.

What’s more? We’re not off the roller coaster yet! More temperature fluctuations can be expected next week, with another warmup on the horizon and unsettled weather expected to continue.

just end this wet Tuesday streak please. I’m getting mad that we can’t get a dry Tuesday around here. 8 weeks without one. I’ve had rnough and I’m sick of hearing about unsettled pattern. Want to see more positive thinking in these discussions already with more tranquil pattern. I hate the negative thinking. It drives me nuts
