Good afternoon! As Saturday rolls on, thunderstorms have developed in earnest throughout the interior Northeast States. These storms have generally remained near or slightly below severe-limits, but a strengthening trend has been observed over the past 30 to 60 minutes. The storms have formed within a marginally favorable environment, but are expected to move into gradually more favorable conditions over the next hour.
Good morning and happy Saturday! Good news! Today is now looking pretty good overall for any outdoor plans. Showers and thunderstorms that were associated with a warm front and a mid-level shortwave from overnight are already moving offshore early this morning. Behind it, clouds will clear for more sunshine for the rest of the morning. Then partly sunny skies are expected for most of the afternoon. It will be warm and humid with high temperatures in upper 70s to lower 80s and more southerly winds today. Temperatures may be a little cooler near the shore.
Good evening and Happy Friday! An active weather day continues across much of the Northeast States. Despite a lack of organized severe weather or widespread impactful hazardous conditions, scattered thunderstorm coverage throughout the Northeast part of the country has created issues, specifically in regards to air travel. Significant delays were reported this evening in many major Northeast US airports as a result of the showers and storms.
A well documented period of cooler than normal temperatures has taken over the Central and Eastern United states over the past week or two, especially from an anomaly standpoint. Many regions east of the Central and Southern Plains have observed temperatures 2 to 3 degrees below average over multiple days, which obviously leads to impacts both in terms of energy and crop. While precipitation patterns have been a bit more sporadic, the temperature forecast of near or below normal has been fairly consistent.
