3/16 All Zones Evening Update on Possible Snow this Weekend

This is just a quick evening update on snow potential for this weekend. For Friday night and Saturday morning, not much has changed on model guidance today. After some sunshine most of day with highs in upper 30s to near 40, clouds will being increasing late tomorrow afternoon and evening. As an warm or occluded front approaches, Some light wintry mix of snow, sleet or rain may develop over parts of the region, later tomorrow night into Saturday morning. This is not expected amount too much for I-95 corridor or the coastal areas.

3/16 All Zones Noon Update/Snow Map: More Snow Possible This Weekend

Winter refuses to give up it’s hold on the Northeast United States. Cold and dry weather will continue over the next few days, as the area continues to sit underneath the influence of a large upper-level low centered near New Brunswick, Canada. Another storm system will likely impact the region from early Saturday onward. Precipitation from Saturday evening into Saturday will increase in coverage and intensity, with the possibility of snowfall accumulations throughout the area by Sunday morning.

Midday All Zones Forecast Update: Snow Likely Friday…Cold & Dry Weekend

Despite a cold front passage this morning, some mild weather will continue for another day or two.  Skies will continue to clear for more sunshine with drier west-northwest downsloping winds this afternoon. These winds will also help temperatures rise into the upper 50s and lower 60s this afternoon.  A tight pressure gradient and some steep lapse rates will also cause west/northwest winds to gusts occasionally between 30-45mph, especially late this afternoon.

3/04 All Zones Update: Arctic Airmass Remains This Weekend, Warming Trend Early Next Week

Happy Saturday! Very cold and blustery conditions are in store for today. Sunshine will be mixing with some clouds  as some instability remains in the atmosphere. But it should remain dry for most of the region with maybe a few spotty flurries over the Interior. Temperatures will only rise into the upper 20s or lower 30s this afternoon. A tight pressure gradient between high pressure north of the Great Lakes and a deepening storm near New Foundland will also cause northwest winds to occasionally gust today between 30-40mph, especially by this afternoon. This will result in windchills in the single digits and teens throughout the day.
