AM Zones Update: Unsettled, Chilly Weather Today, Warming Trend Begins Sunday

Happy Friday! After the drenching downpours yesterday, more unsettled weather is in store today. Shortwave energy and a cold pool aloft associated with a large upper-level low over the Northeast will be swinging through region today. This will cause more lift and instability for some scattered showers to develop by this afternoon.

3/24 Interior Zones AM Update: Light Wintry Mix Possible Today, More Unsettled Weekend Weather

Happy Friday! Today, a warm front and shortwave will producing some areas of light snow, sleet and/or freezing rain  over parts of Western NY and PA. This activity will be moving into Northeast PA, Southeast NY, Northwest NJ and Northwest CT, around 10am to 12pm noon. No significant wintry hazards are anticipated. But driving on the roads may become a little more treacherous late this morning and early this afternoon.

3/21 All Zones AM Update: Arctic blast midweek, unsettled beyond

Some cloud cover and few scattered showers remain over the region this morning, associated with a very weak cold front and shortwave passing through. Subsidence will follow later this morning (sinking, drier air), with more clearing and sunshine for this afternoon. Temperatures will remain at seasonable levels today with light northwest winds and deep mixing in the atmosphere. High temperatures are anticipated to be in the mid-upper 50s over much of the region today. Some locations could reach around 60 degrees.

3/17 All Zones Early Afternoon Update on Potential Snowfall This Weekend

Today will be a beautiful day, with lots of sunshine for much of the day. The large closed upper-level low influence our weather for last few days, will finally be lifting further north over the Canadian Maritimes. This will lead to rising mid-level heights the over region , allowing for temperatures to warm up into upper 30s to lower 40s for highs this afternoon. While these temperatures may feel a little more comfortable, compared the last few days, they are still well below normal for this time of year.
