Unsettled late week, MDW weather uncertain

Hello, friends! Today’s weather rating is an 8/10. East winds and partly cloudy skies are dominating the forecast, with temperatures expected to top out in the upper 60’s. Clouds this morning will give way to nicer conditions later. The warmth and humidity of the past few days has been wiped out by a cold front, but the easterly winds are a bit of a sign of an impending storm system (hooray). Conditions will remain pleasant through tonight.

Winter Weather Advisory Issued for NYC Ahead of Saturday’s Bomb Cyclone

A strong low pressure system will develop along the East Coast this weekend – strengthening rapidly enough to be characterized a “bomb cyclone – bringing a myriad of hazardous weather to the Northeast states. Heavy rain, wintry mix, snow and gusty winds are all expected in the NYC Metro on Saturday. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the NYC Metro on Saturday.

Winter Storm Expected Saturday, NYC on Fringe of Heavy Snow

A strong coastal storm will develop on Friday evening, growing stronger through Saturday. The NYC Metro Area is likely to be right on the fringe of heavy snowfall, with a sharp gradient between little snow at all and significant snowfall totals. Forecast models continue to waffle back and forth with the storms exact track, which is leading to much more uncertainty than usual.

Snow quickly transitions to rain with blustery winds in NYC tonight

Another strong coastal storm is forecast to develop tonight. Despite the bitter cold which settled in to the area over the past 24 hours, this storm will be characterized by warm air. Snow is expected to quickly transition to sleet and rain in the city, with periods of heavy rain through tonight. Minimal accumulations are expected, but gusty winds and coastal flooding are likely.
