A winter storm will evolve throughout the Mid Atlantic and Northeast states Monday evening, with substantial accumulating snowfall possible in the NYC Metro for the first time this winter season. The current forecast calls for 1 to 3 inches of snow in the city and more inland.

The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Watch for the NYC Metro Area and surrounding areas, effective from Thursday through Friday. Another winter storm will impact the area starting Thursday morning, and could bring significant snowfall to much of the area. The storm system is expected to linger in the area until Friday afternoon before pulling away.

A severe winter storm is expected in the NYC Metro area from Sunday evening through Tuesday, with significant snowfall over 12″ likely. Periods of heavy snow, plus gusty northeast winds will lead to low visibility. Travel will be very difficult on Monday. Snowfall totals may exceed 10″ by the time the storm ends on Tuesday.
