Happy Tuesday! We come bearing some good news, as a warming trend with temperatures begins today. Unfortunately, weather conditions will also become more unsettled during the next few days. For this morning, sunshine has already become filtered by some high cirrus. These clouds will gradually thicken and increase this afternoon as a frontal system approaches from the west. Despite cloud cover, some warm-air advection with mid-level ridging will support temperatures rising into the upper 40s to lower 50s for highs this afternoon.

Good morning, friends! Monday started off wonderfully, albeit cold, throughout the majority of the Northeast states. Plenty of sunshine is expected to persist throughout the remainder of the day today as well, as high pressure remains in control. The cold air has remained stout, and will continue to do so for a few more days, with temperatures running below seasonal averages throughout the Northeast states.

NYC Area Weekend Forecast: Pleasant, but remaining very cold

It has been quite some time since we’ve been able to take a break from forecasting significant winter storms, or at least look ahead at a time period where the potential for one didn’t exist. We’ve finally made it to that point! The weather this weekend will be much more quiet compared to the past several days – with sunny conditions generally expected across the Northeast states. Temperatures, however, will be several degrees below normal, with highs only in the 40’s and low temperatures remaining very cold overnight.

NYC Area Forecast: Chilly Weather into the Weekend, Blocking Returns by April

Friday’s Weather Rating | 5/10 (Fair)

Happy Friday! Partly sunny skies and chilly conditions are expected overall across the region today. But a shortwave trough with some instability will be moving through the region this afternoon and evening. A few isolated rain or wet snow showers and some gusty northwest winds are possible, as it moves through. High temperatures will be in the middle 40s. Later tonight, skies will be clear to partly cloudy. Temperatures will drop overnight into the mid-upper 20s over the Interior to lower to middle 30s over NYC and urban areas.
