After a raw and rainy morning, the sun has made a cameo appearance this afternoon! It’s a welcomed sight, with temperatures spiking up into the upper 60’s (still well below normal for this time of year, by the way). Another round of showers and thunderstorms is possible with a secondary disturbance this afternoon and early evening. Thereafter, improving conditions are likely.
We have a bit of good news and bad news for you. First, the bad news is that after two banner days, rainy and cooler conditions will affect the entire area tomorrow. The good news is that this system should be out of our hair by Friday, with much warmer conditions in store for this weekend! We’ll break it all down for you below!
After what seems like weeks of near-daily rainfall, the pattern has finally decided to give us a break. High pressure nosing down from New England is likely to keep the weather calm over the next few days, leading to a very pleasant weekend. Temperatures are likely to average near or slightly above normal throughout the area during this time frame.
It has been a rough go of it. Since the middle of April, temperatures have averaged near or below normal and precipitation has averaged above normal. The very active pattern began in April with multiple days of rain per week, and transitioned in May to support strong to severe thunderstorms. The high pressure this weekend will come as a welcomed guest to the Northeast States.
The cooler/dry airmass that has been present over the Northeast is now a thing of the past! Warmer/more humid conditions are now in place, along with the threat of some showers this evening. High pressure will gradually build into the Northeast this weekend, making for an overall great weekend.
