NYC Area Forecast: Active start to the week with multiple storms

An active weather pattern, which has gripped the Central and Eastern United states over the past week, will continue into the early part of the week ahead. Multiple storm systems will impact the Northeast states, with the opportunity for heavy rainfall on Monday and then strong to severe thunderstorms a distinct possibility on Tuesday. Temperatures, meanwhile, will be running several degrees above average throughout a large majority of the area.

The pattern remains quite amplified across the country, and has been essentially since the weekend Nor’easter from 10 days ago – when flooding and onshore winds left the New Jersey and New York coasts battered. After a pleasant second half of the weekend, things will begin to take a turn for the worst on Monday morning, as another low pressure system develops near the coastal plain.

Winter Forecast 2018-2019

Seasonal weather forecasting, especially when it comes to Winter, is one of the most challenging aspects of meteorology. It isn’t simply a guesstimate or an educated gamble. It is instead the product of months of research which typically begins several months prior. We’ve been piecing together ideas for this upcoming winter since Spring, and we’re excited to present our findings to you. This will lead us to the conclusions which we believe will be the guiding forces for us during the seasons ahead.

Emanating from the Ohio Valley and Mid-Atlantic states, there are actually two distinct disturbances which are expected to move through the Northeast – one on Friday and another on Saturday morning.

Weekend rain has become a trend once again over the past few weeks, with several weekends featuring at least one day “lost” to rain and cloudy conditions in the Northeast states. This weekend will be no different. The saving grace is likely to be Sunday, which is expected to be much more pleasant – at least comparatively.

NYC Area Forecast: Transitional weather continues, more rain late week

Remember this past Spring, when it seemed like we had settled into a pattern which brought us rain every single weekend? It looks like we might be back there again.

Forecast models are settling in to the idea that another storm system will impact the Northeast states from late Friday into Saturday, delivering multiple rounds of rainfall and no shortage of cloudy, dreary weather.

Luckily, there is plenty to enjoy until then! Temperatures are expected to gradually warm over the next few days, well into the 50’s on Wednesday and then into the 60’s on Thursday. This will come as a welcomed change, after several days of temperatures below normal.
